Ciara Barker is an artist from Co. Galway, based in Limerick city. She produces immersive installations that restrict, respond and distort, in order to intensify the participant’s experience of themselves and others within a space. Her work invites physical interaction, offering viewers a route to personal experience and discovery. She is preoccupied with the effects of socially-constructed divides, and in her work she seeks to make room for complexity, contradiction and rebellious acceptance.

Ciara is currently undertaking a period of research and development, supported by the Arts Council and Limerick City & County Council. She is a long-term Artist-in-Residence at Ormston House and during 2020-2021, was commissioned to develop a large-scale installation for their project The Feminist Supermarket, an iteration of which was exhibited at Supermarket Independent Art Fair, Stockholm (2021). Ciara has exhibited in over twenty shows including the Galway International Arts Festival (2019). She co-founded Spacecraft Studios in 2017 and was a Director there for two years. She holds a BA in Fine Art from Limerick School of Art & Design (2017) and a HDip in Interaction Design from Dublin City University (2022).
